DNPD

A digital identity for vehicles, so a number plate can prove it is genuine.

A dark sedan enclosed in a translucent digital security dome of glowing blue data lines

The brief

A number plate is a printed piece of plastic. Anyone can order a copy, fit it to another car, and borrow that car's identity. Cameras can read a plate but cannot tell a real one from a clone, so owners get fines for journeys they never made, and buyers pay for cars that turn out to be stolen. DNPD gives a vehicle an identity that can be verified, not just read.

What we did

  • Started from a gap nobody had closed: a plate proves nothing about the car it is on
  • Set out to make a cloned plate something you catch, not something you learn about from a fine
  • Designed it for everyone who has to trust a plate: owners, buyers, and the people who check them
  • Built the proof of concept ourselves. It is the project RavenX grew out of

The outcome

A working proof of concept, in active development toward a production device. DNPD is where RavenX started, and it is still the problem we most want to solve.
